- My son Brandon is coming to visit me over
the holidays and volunteered to help me move (although he doesn't know
it yet). I am trying to catch up on email... I still need to go shopping!
I can only wish that everyone has theirs completed, so no one is at
the store when I finally get there...
12/19/98
- My computer has been moved at least and
I am staying at the new place for good.
12/15/98
- You may notice a lack of site activity soon
(some may be saying that it can't get any more inactive... a standstill
is not considered activity). :) Actually, I do update the site daily, but
it is to remove items sold or place them on hold, etc. The reason for the
standstill is that I bought a home today and will be moving over the next
month or so. This move will take awhile due to my lack of free time. My
mailing address will not change. I now live less than 50 yards from the
Cairo Post Office. How convenient! The home I bought is not new to me as
I lived in it a long time ago. It belonged to my grandparents for many
years and then to my parents before being sold almost 10 years ago.
12/13/98
- Christmas is quickly approaching and I haven't
started shopping yet. At least my email is caught up. Can you believe it?
12/6/98
- The 3 teams almost pulled it off, but Mississippi
State didn't have an offense... I finally added new redlines today!
11/29/98
- I hope everyone is full of it! Turkey, that
is! :) Good luck to Texas A&M (over Kansas State), Mississippi State
(over Tennessee) and Miami (over UCLA) next weekend. It is unlikely that
all 3 teams will win, but that is the only way Ohio State could play for
the National Championship (against Florida State). Even that scenario would
be iffy, due to the BCS rules.
I did
update the site today and answered all my email pile-up!
11/22/98
- I was happy to see Ohio State win, but was
ashamed at the poor sportsmanship certain team members showed. The worst
display was Boston's taunting during his run to the end zone. That stuff
ALWAYS comes back to haunt you. It is too bad that Cooper didn't pull him
from the game for it. Buckeye fans can be satisfied for at least one year
that the monkey, named Michigan, is off of their shoulders. Let's hope
that the monkey stays firmly planted on the ground every year! Go Buckeyes!
I will
be busy until after Thanksgiving so won't have much time to update the
site. I hope that you have a wonderful holiday!
11/21/98
- Buckeyes beat Michigan 31-16!
11/15/98
- I got bored on vacation, so it is over already...
The for sale sections are all back online. I did watch the Buckeyes play
against Iowa, but I thought they played poorly even though the score looked
good. Michigan was impressive again over Wisconsin. Looking forward to
next week's big showdown.
11/13/98
- Friday the 13th! I hope you weren't unlucky
today... I am still not quite over the devastating loss OSU had last weekend.
Michigan State deserved the win, as they played the better game. No excuses.
In related news... Michigan has been playing like crap all year and then
trounces Penn State. They beat Minnesota 15-10 the week before and beat
Northwestern 12-6... Go figure!
I do
have a theory about that! Michigan wanted Buckeye fans to think the Wolverines
were horrible this year, so they played just good enough to win their Big
Ten games. They thought we would feel sorry for them and not be prepared.
However, Penn State didn't cooperate with the plan and actually made Michigan
look great. So now we know and we'll be ready! :) I am actually pulling
for Michigan tomorrow when they play Wisconsin. I finally figured out what
that loud whooshing noise was that I heard when I was in Toledo several
weeks ago. It was that state of Michigan so close... :)
I am
enjoying my "vacation" from the site. Thanks for not emailing
me. Just remember to start up again later! I bought the new Alanis Morissette
CD and have been playing it over and over. A song called Unsent really
struck a nerve. It is a list of short messages to people that she once
liked and lost contact with. There are a lot of people I would love to
talk to if I knew where they were. The CD has 17 songs (only a couple I
didn't care for) and even has a "tasteful" nude on the CD itself.
Although you can't see it when it is playing! Duh! I had to put Sarah McLachlan
and Natalie Imbruglia away.
11/06/98
- I need a break from the site. Therefore,
effective tomorrow, no more orders will be taken until 11/27. Of course
any deals that I have quoted will still be honored. By the 27th, I should
have the hundreds of redlines that I have acquired recently shot and linked.
Due to some changes at my job, I have had little time to spend on taking
care of the site as it should be. I have been behind on email for the last
couple of weeks and nobody deserves that. By the way, the haunted garage
was great and I did scare a lot of kids (and adults). I did wear the
mask, too! :) The Buckeyes are rolling along! I am keeping my fingers crossed
that they keep winning convincingly enough to stay on top of the BCS standings.
I hope that you can understand about my decision and will stop back when
I am ready to start up again!
10/25/98
- Helped my brother, Steve, set up the haunted
garage. I can't wait until Thursday!! Some mean people keep telling me
that I am scarier without the mask...
10/24/98
- I didn't have to work and I did add some
cars! Check the redline bp section first and then the '73 enamels. The
Buckeyes were a little sloppy, but still managed to keep the undefeated
season going with a 36-10 victory over Northwestern.
10/22/98
- Ok - shoot me! I bought some more redlines
last weekend (125+ mostly spectraflames) and haven't posted any of them
yet. I drove to Toledo to meet a guy from the much hated state up north.
He was ok, even though his favorite colors were Maize and Blue. He sold
me his collection, which included some nice sets (including some great
Topper stuff), accessories, and 70 or so cars AND he brought some redlines
that belonged to his buddy. It is a good thing I took some extra cash with
me! Anyway, IF I don't have to work Saturday, I promise to post some of
these jewels on my site. It has been a long time since I added any new
ones and for that I apologize. This Sunday, I am helping set up a Haunted
Garage at my parents' house. I get to scare some little kids!!! So if you
are in Cairo - come down First Street and be afraid. Be very AFRAID!!!
Boo! :)
10/10/98
- Everyone wants to know where I have been
or at least why the updates stopped (Even mean Jerry and his extremely
nice wife Bethany (happy now?)). Well, I really have been busy at work
and have had little time for the site. I wish it was because I didn't have
any new cars to post, but that isn't the case. In the last three weeks,
I have had more overtime than in the previous three months. While the overtime
pay is good, I would rather spend the time on the site. By the time I answer
my email, pack up stuff for the next day and check out ebay for a couple
minutes, my eyelids start getting heavy. Maybe I am just getting old...
If you haven't been paying attention to college football, Ohio State is
still undefeated and still ranked #1! Go Bucks!!!!
9/20/98
- A couple good things happened yesterday.
I acquired an unused original Snake and Mongoose set with mint cars, unapplied
decal sheets, basically complete mint contents. The box is worn though.
:( The other good thing was that the Bucks won again. They were hurt by
turnovers early, but bounced back for a good game over Missouri.
9/16/98
- If you were looking for the new cars, I
am sorry for the delay. I ran out of storage space on my hard drive and
had to delete a bunch of things and haven't had time to get back to it.
Should be very soon!
9/12/98
- The Buckeyes rolled again and Michigan got
beat, so it was a good day. The only problem with this is that if Michigan
has a mediocre season (and 0-2 is a bad way to get going...) they will
be thinking of nothing but the game with OSU in November. This may not
be a good thing... Anyway, I am posting some more new enamels today.
9/07/98
- I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend.
Mine was pretty boring, except I did get to see Ohio State have a good
outing (no, not in person...). I started listing the enamels finally. The
reason I was slow is that I have been working on some new iron-on transfer
designs that include some anti-Michigan themes. :) It sure was a shame
that Notre Dame trounced the Blue and Maize...NOT!
9/01/98
- A new month! I added the last of the
"new" spectraflames and will soon be starting on the enamels.
8/29/98
- I have been busy keeping up with email and
work. I didn't get laid off as I had expected and it looks like that may
not happen. I was sorta hoping for a week off... Oh, well. I would have
worked on the site anyway, but that is a little more fun! I am adding
some new cars right now...
8/22/98
- Happy Birthday Jerry!!! I have been
busy, but it may not be apparent. I now have a new lighting setup for taking
pics. Thanks Chris! Spectraflame redlines are so shiny that the setup I
was using caused a lot of glare. If I ever catch up completely, I will
reshoot everything I have listed. (Don't hold your breath on that one!)
:) I did add some new cars and will get caught up on email very soon.
8/19/98
- The listing is continuing...
8/17/98
- The listing has started.
8/16/98
- I ended up bringing back almost 300 cars
(including Topper Lightnings) from Cincy yesterday. New cars will be posted
as I get the time. It took me most of the day just to sort them...
8/14/98
- What a hectic couple of weeks! At least
the GM strike ended and the prospect of getting cars has improved, although
it will still take awhile. I was working on a collection of redlines and
actually had a deal made. I sent payment and he cashed my cashier's check
and then changed his mind. The day that he cashed my check he tried to
sell them to someone else for more money. (What?) I have no problem with
anyone trying to get the most for what they have. That is business. I hope
that I don't have to explain what is wrong with this picture! I did get
get my payment back, but it took 12 days from the time I sent it until
I got it back. I have to admit that I thought I had been ripped off and
was going to have to make a trip to get my money back. Anyway, I am driving
to Cincy tomorrow to look at a 257 redline car collection. Wish me luck!
Even if I don't bring any back with me, I do have some more cars to add.
By the way, my brothers missed out again! I took Mom out to eat at Red
Lobster for her birthday... She seems to be getting younger every year!
:)
7/26/98
- I have been busy with work and keeping the
site updated, but have had nothing new to add. I did update my links page
and some other pages this week.
The company
I work for builds limos and hearses out of new Caddys. I barely missed
getting laid off on Friday, even though I haven't been there very long.
I can't figure out if it is because I do a magnificent job or my position
is one that nobody else wants to do. I wish it was the first choice, but
have a feeling it is the latter... :) Anyway, the GM strike is about to
shut the whole place down because we can't get any more cars to cut up.
SO, if anyone has a hundred extra 1998 Caddys sitting around and wants
to sell them cheap, please contact me.
7/19/98
- I visited my brother Gordon and his wife
Rachel in Cincinnati yesterday and was able to get some of their computer
problems fixed. At least I have another ally in the "mean brother
Jerry" campaign. As a result of my day off from the site, I am behind
on email. I will try to catch up before the day is over.
7/15/98
- My site's birthday party is now officially
over and I hope you all had a good time and no one was arrested on the
way home. :) I had 122 people enter my give-away, which was 10 less then
last year. :( It was the quality of the crowd that mattered more than the
quantity! The link to the celebration page is on my main page. Go see who
won the prizes, if you care to. Thanks to all who entered and wished the
site a happy 2nd birthday!
7/13/98
- Ok, I wasn't quite finished. I scrounged
up a few more loose redlines to add... :)
7/11/98
- I have finished adding cars for awhile...
I also updated my originals page with three new cars, a purple Grasshopper
(thank you very much, John), a pink Custom AMX, and a magenta Mighty Maverick.
Three days until my site's 2nd birthday party...
7/9/98
- My employer shut down for at least 2 days
which gave me a 4day weekend. So, it is giving me time to work on the site.
I have started posting the collection that I was expecting. The cars are
very nice and worth what I paid, even though the "mint" cars
weren't. I should have them all done by the end of the day!
7/5/98
- I added a bunch of cars in the last 2 days
including some 73s and a few decent spectraflame redlines. Should have
a really nice 60+ collection show up tomorrow... I hope everyone had a
safe July 4th and no one got hurt at the bottle rocket war! :)
6/30/98
- I added some new loose spectraflame redlines.
Continuing what I started Sunday and fell asleep while waiting for my camera
to upload...
6/28/98
- I added some new loose spectraflame redlines
to the site. I have a bunch (well over 100) more to go and some more (60+)
on the way. Except for a few people (definitely not Rick!), I am having
trouble with items on hold again. Therefore, unless you have been in contact
with me in the last week or so, everything that is on hold now will be
made available again. I will be doing this July 5th. So, if you still want
something that is on hold for you, just send me an email and let me know
what is going on.
I am
getting ready for the site's second birthday party give away and am trying
to make it even better than last year. It is amazing to me that almost
2 years has passed since I started the website. I sure wish I could have
kept all the nice redlines that I have sold or traded away... If anyone
knows where the time went, let me in on the secret!
I also
replaced my brake line, so you can quit worrying about an Acura ramming
you in the Lima, Ohio area (maybe)... :)
6/22/98
- I have been neglecting the website, but
it was for a good reason. My brother Gordon married a wonderful young lady
named Rachel on Saturday in Cincinnati (6/20). In addition to that, my
mean brother, Jerry and his wife, Bethany (much nicer than him) flew in
from New Hampshire on Thursday and stayed with me. I had lots of stuff
to do before they arrived (lots of cleaning...). I am behind in email also,
but not too much. The most exciting thing happened to me in Cincinnati.
My right front brake line started leaking and sprayed a nice stream of
fluid whenever the brake pedal was pushed. I couldn't get it fixed and
drove home (120 miles) with no brakes, except for the parking brake. I
didn't have to slow down much anyway, so I had little problem. (Jerry and
Bethany rode with my mom...) I also found out today that the lines can
only be ordered from an Acura dealer and the closest one is 90 miles away,
so I will have no brakes until Wednesday... So if you are driving around
Lima, Ohio stay clear of any white '87 Acura Legends you may encounter.
:)
Jerry
and Bethany left on Sunday (what a short visit...) and were on their way
to Ireland for a vacation. I hope that they have a good time and don't
get caught in the crossfire...
6/11/98
- I added some new redlines to the non-73's
enamel page.
6/08/98
- I added some new redlines to the pages...
(Two days in a row, what is going on here???)
6/07/98
- I added some new redlines to the pages...
6/06/98
- I have been busy experimenting with 3D effects
and meshing my new hardware together. I am very impressed with the Orchid
Righteous 3D ll (Voodoo 2) video card. There is a short demo of Rage's
game called Incoming that is supplied with the card and the effects are
AMAZING. It is a good thing that the demo is very short or I wouldn't have
shipped anything out this week, answered any email and I would not have
gone to work. :) Well, maybe I would have went to work... I had some problems
getting my camera working with the new setup, but that has been solved,
so I will be adding new cars this weekend. I also am getting ready for
my mean brother's (Jerry, the CPA) visit. Yes, the same one that threatened
to sue me for not disclosing that some of the cars I listed on my original
cars page were his. I will get even with him when he gets here... He is
visiting because my brother Gordon is getting married!
5/30/98
- What has been happening you may ask? I wish
I knew! The days are flying by... I have been keeping up with email for
the most part and have the new system almost where I want it. I overclocked
my system and everything ran fine at 400MHz except for the SCSI card which
didn't like the front side bus speed set at 100MHz. I may have fried it...
I will put it back in the old system to test it. The only thing it ran
was the CD-Writer anyway. It is nice having a system that doesn't make
me wait on applications loading up (256 MB of PC100 SDRAM helps).
The V.90 modem was a little disappointing as I can't access faster than
42K. It still is an improvement over the 33.6K, but I was hoping for 48
to 50K... In addition to the components I mentioned below, I installed
an 11.5GB hard drive, a Sound Blaster AWE 64 sound card (the cd player
sounds SO much better), a Matrox Productiva G100 AGP video card (everyone
should have one!), and an Orchid Righteous 3D II video card (12MB ram on
the card). The last item is for gaming and I should have skipped it as
I don't have the time to play anyway...
The collection
I was expecting arrived, but is not as nice as expected so I may be returning
it. Will keep you posted! The job is getting a little better and I am not
working as many hours per day.
5/21/98
- If you were looking for the new redlines
I supposedly added, you can stop... I ran out of time. The good news
is that they have been added now. The case and v.90 modem for the new system
have arrived. It looks like most of the parts will arrive before the weekend!!!!
5/17/98
- I have added some new loose redlines and
that will be the extent of the additions for awhile. I have another
collection coming soon, but haven't seen the cars yet. I ordered some
new computer stuff yesterday including an Abit BX6 motherboard, Intel Celeron
CPU (see my link to Tom's Hardware Guide to see how you can get this to
run at 400 MHz with 100 MHz front side bus), 256 MB of ram and a V.90 modem.
Hopefully, this next upgrade will be easier than the previous attempts...
:)
5/14/98
- Sorry about not adding anything. Unfortunately,
I am behind on email. I started a new job and they want me to stay there
24 hours a day it seems... OK, so that may be a slight stretch of the truth.
(I did say it seems...) :) More later!
5/11/98
- Added some cars to the loose basic wheel
page. Almost all were late 70's and early 80's models.
5/10/98
- Spent the afternoon with my mom. I hope
you had the opportunity to do the same! Jerry and Gordon sure missed out...
5/9/98
- Wow! The time is flying by... I have been
updating the pages, and I even added some cars earlier in the week, but
forgot to tell you on this page. Sorry about that! I added some new redlines
today also. Don't forget about tomorrow being Mother's Day!!!
4/29/98
- Added some new loose redlines.
4/27/98
- I have been helping my uncle do some ebay
auctions, so I am using that as my excuse for not posting any new cars.
I also have been playing a game called StarCraft, a new release from Blizzard.
It has a lot of similarities to the game WarCraft II. I have not been able
to play in the multi-player mode yet because of a hardware problem.
4/25/98
- Updated my original car listing with all
the new additions. I still have more to find...
4/24/98
- Finally shot and linked up all the pictures
for the loose chrome redlines.
4/22/98
- Added some more loose cars...
4/20/98
- Added some more loose cars. Slowly, but
surely...
4/18/98
- Started adding some new redlines, FINALLY
(I know). Will add more as time permits.
4/15/98
- The redline blister page was updated finally.
4/13/98
- I can't believe that the days are flying
by and I don't seem to get much accomplished on the page. At least I mowed
the grass! :) Heck, I even sprayed the dandelions. That was mainly because
my yard was the only one that was mostly yellow and I was getting dirty
looks from the neighbors. I have started taking pictures again and will
be adding the new cars very soon. I did get caught up on email, but everyone
emailed back and I am behind again. I hope everyone had a nice Easter!
I even helped my nephews Seth and Zac color Easter eggs. I didn't get to
help search for them though. :(
4/08/98
- I have returned! I almost got stuck in Hartford,
Connecticut on the way back when my car broke down (alternator stopped
working, thus no fuel injection). It just died on the interstate and I
was lucky enough that I was less than a mile away from a garage that didn't
make me wait. They did make me pay though. If I had been at home, the brushes
in the alternator would have cost me $5, but it ended up costing close
to $350 total.... It was my fault though because I didn't take the time
to check out the problem, so I really can't blame them. It would have been
nice if they had just replaced the brushes, but when you are stuck somewhere
you can't complain too much.
It will
take a few days to catch up with the email, but it is a lot better than
it was when I came back from the last trip. I had a very enjoyable stay
in New Hampshire with Jerry, Bethany and Darek. I didn't get to go to too
many places because they had me chained to their computer table... I can
only hope that they remember everything they learned! I also had the
pleasure of visiting my friend Bob Bradshaw and his wife Debbie in Massachusetts.
It was really nice to finally meet them in person after only speaking to
them on the phone for the last few years. Bob took me to a Hot Wheel swap
meet and I bought some redlines. The neatest part of the trip was visiting
the basement of Bob's friends George and Colleen. Even though I don't collect
too many Matchbox cars, I was very impressed by George's display. After
I was overwhelmed with the cars and trucks, he opened up another section
of the basement to reveal the nicest train layout I have ever seen. I can
tell that they have a lot of time invested. I also made a web page for
Bob that is listed on my for sale page. The cars that are listed there
can be special ordered from him. While I am not receiving any benefit from
the sale of these cars, they were just too nice for them not to get any
exposure. Bob and I set up a "studio" and what you see is the
result. If they would only do some newer models. Those old guys... :)
I will
be working to get things straightened out once I get my mail and ship out
everything. Please be patient if you want a car that is on hold for someone
else. More later!
3/26/98
- I am leaving in the morning bright and early
to go see my accountant. The bad thing is that he lives 800 miles away
and I am driving (all my records wouldn't fit in the suitcase). I have
borrowed a laptop from my brother Steve so if I get it set up properly
I will have email access after all. Wish me luck and hope I have some new
stuff when I get back.
3/22/98
- I am making the preparations for my trip
and will not be adding anything new to the site until I return. The reason
being that I will have less email when I return. When I get back , I will
have a lot to add to the site. Hopefully some new redline blisters and
loose cars. I will be doing page updates, but only to remove cars that
have been sold.
3/19/98
- I have been having a hard time lately keeping
track of who has what on hold. The problem stems from my use of initials
or first name to mark them. If the person doesn't pay for them promptly
(within a couple weeks) AND doesn't keep in touch with me, it is easy for
me to forget who put them on hold. It would be easier if everyone used
their name to start their email address, but that is not the case. I will
be wiping the slate clean when I get back from my vacation. In other words,
unless you pay for them by the by the time I return or make arrangements
with me, all cars that are now on hold will be taken off hold. I have some
items that have been on hold for several months and I can't get a response
from them or in a couple cases I can't even find the email addresses of
who wanted them. So contact me soon if you are having problems. Also, if
you are a certain relative, I will not be doing your homework until 4am
again. Don't wait until the last minute to ask for help. PLEASE???
3/14/98
- The last couple days have been spent watching
March Madness (NCAA Tourney), when I get a chance. I watched several great
games yesterday. Keep them coming!!! The cars you have been waiting for
will be posted today sometime. I am sorry that there weren't a lot more
for you to choose from!
3/11/98
- I know that I have not put up the new redlines
that I promised to do and for that I am sorry. I took the pictures
several times and had program problems. Then, I decided to try a different
setup using a reflective surface under the cars so the shadows aren't as
severe. This proved successful, but the colors are a little too washed
out from too much light. I also need to let everyone know that I am taking
a vacation from 3/27 until I get back. I am going to visit my brother,
Jerry, in New Hampshire. Yes, the same one that threatened to sue me if
I didn't disclose his part ownership of some of the cars on my original
redline page. Even though he is mean, I still am going to visit...
3/8/98
- I have everything running again, but still
have a glitch with my sound card. I updated the Hot Wheel Factory page.
There are some pics of the cars that Ted and I made. If anyone has any
suggestion where to get similar plastic, please contact me. I had some
success with neon colored glue sticks, but I let one batch of glue cook
a little too long and I had to work to get the mold apart. The cars are
a little too pliable also. Help!
3/5/98
- I have been working at getting all my apps
working. The only thing left is the camera and that should be easy. I had
no idea that I had so many programs that I use on a consistent basis...
I do have a few new redlines to post, once I get the pics done. I should
have them done before the weekend is over, barring any new catastrophes.
3/3/98
- Windows 95 does not like me. A month or
so ago, I installed a new hard drive in my computer and made a small mistake
overwriting files that my system used. I re-installed Win 95 and had a
heck of a time getting it to work. Finally, it worked and I said good deal
and left it alone. Well, last week I set up a new computer for my parents
and wow, a brand new version of Win 95 with USB support (like I needed
that anyway) came with it. I was having some crashes (even more than normal)
so I thought that using the disk to upgrade was a good idea. I really couldn't
resist. Well, I should have left it alone... The dang thing detected that
I still had a mess left over from the last time and cut me off. I actually
had to move everything off of my 4GB HD to the 6GB HD using dos because
Win 95 would not take off and run!! I had to delete some games, but wasn't
playing them and I have the disks anyway. After the drive was empty, it
allowed me to install Win 95 onto the small drive but I had to disable
the large HD manually and delete it from the CMOS. I have all my applications
on the other drive and will have to spend many hours re-installing them.
At least I have Netscape up and running, but that is about it. Win95 is
the dog that someone beat with the newspaper and I am the paperboy...
2/28/98
- With some assistance from Ted Gray, another
engineer (At least that is what he says. I have never actually seen the
diploma...), I actually used my Hot Wheel Factory to make some cars. It
wasn't as easy as I had thought it would be and actually took a few tries
to get things to come out right. Of course, Ted took the best prototype.
It was a very rare variation. The line worker, me, put redlines on the
front and bw on the rear... I have thought about making some cars to sell
on ebay. I will advertise them as rare, one of a kind prototypes, and get
a couple hundred a piece for them! :) I am sure that most people won't
have any idea of what they are... I will redo the Hot Wheel Factory page
soon. If anyone has any plastix for sale, please contact me.
2/25/98
- I have been busy with helping my parents
set up their computer. I am trying to pay back all the nice things that
my mother did for me while I was growing up. :) I have done some things
to the pages, but they will probably not be noticed readily. The main thing
that I did was to get rid of the Frontpage imbedded link gizmo that worked
for most, but not all users. I still have a minor problem with the
way it shows up with MSIE, but will worry about it later. I can't get the
table that I made to line up in the same spot in both browsers. It looks
great in Netscape anyway.
2/18/98
- Added some new redlines to the pages.
2/15/98
- Working on some new pages, including a Topper
site. Stay tuned.
2/11/98
- Added some loose basic wheel cars to the
page.
2/7/98
- Worked on changing some more pages to the
current style.
2/5/98
- Added some more redlines to the pages.
2/2/98
- Added some new redlines and am changing
the pages around again. Hey, if the site was perfect, I wouldn't have anything
to update! My ISP service has greatly improved since they added all the
lines. Now if they can keep ahead of the demand... I am ordering the upgrade
components tomorrow... New Abit TX mother board, AMD K6-233 processor and
64 megs of SDRAM. I am going to try overclocking it for even more speed!
Then my weak link will be the slow parallel port.
1/30/98
- This day didn't start out that good. I couldn't
connect due to an ISP problem. I have had very limited access between 7:00
and 10:00 pm for the last month which is the main reason I have missed
the aol redline chats on Tuesday. I think they are adding 48 new lines
today which is the reason for the connection problem, I hope. Also, I started
a new section on the Hot Wheels Factory, listed under the For Fun section.
I will be making some cars one of these days!
1/28/98
- A whole week flew by since I updated this
page. I really haven't added too much to the pages since I worked the kinks
out of the frontpage. I was working on that so much that I let other things
slide and had to catch those up. I also was playing a new game called War
Wind II, but really had to force myself to play it after a while. The guys
that you have to control would take off on their own and get themselves
killed when you weren't looking. I set up an icq account so I could "chat"
to my relatives when they are on-line. My number is 7453947. I also tried
MS Net Meeting, but the people couldn't hear me when I tried to speak on
the microphone. I could hear them though. It is a neat idea and I will
work with it some more later. I probably won't get a video camera cause
who wants to see me when I first get up in the morning!
1/21/98
- I think all the bugs are worked out of the
new front page. If I am wrong let me know. Thanks to all those who helped
fix it. I had one jpg file that was accessing from my hard drive instead
of the server where it was stored. I could see it, but noone else could.
And for those of you who don't know already, the orange stuff is supposed
to be Hot Wheel track! Get it? Redlines and orange track go together...
I have to explain everything!
1/20/98
- The new layout is beginning. Things will
look more uniform as the days go by. I won't be noting all the changes
because most will be cosmetic. Things would look fantastic if I could use
non-lossy pic formats... Of course, you would be waiting 10 minutes for
the page to load, but it would look nice!
1/18/98
- Still ironing out the kinks in the new page
design. Photoshop, Frontpage, Netscape, and PhotoImpact (came with
my camera) all work in different ways. I will need some help once the pages
are up. If any pages don't work with your browser, I will need to know,
so I can make them work for all platforms. There will be a text link for
the pages, so it will be easy to get in if you are still using an old business
environment browser. I had no idea that Photoshop was so complicated when
I bought it... It could take years to master and then it would be updated
and you would have to start all over! I was caught up with email for a
while yesterday, but am behind again.
1/16/98
- I am trying a new look to the pages.
I am a little behind on the email, but will catch up by Sunday. Let me
know if the pages look bad or take too much time to load up.
1/15/98
- Fixed the camera problem. I had installed
an extra printer port so I didn't have to change the cable back and forth
between the printer and the camera docking bay. I ended up just removing
it to save time, but it would be more convenient! The dang thing came with
no installation book. It looks simple, but you have to set the interrupt
requests with jumpers on the board and all the options are in use already
by other devices. I still have the bug to get a new Abit LX6 motherboard,
a Pentium II processor, and 64 mb SDRAM... "More power!", as
Tim would say.
1/13/98
- Everything is working fine with the new
hard drive it seems. I now have 10 Gig of hard disk space. I can remember
a few years back when 210 Meg seemed like a large drive. Unfortunately,
my camera is not recognized by the system now. Therefore, I can't add any
new pics until I fix that. Once I get it all fixed up it will be time for
a new motherboard with a new Pentium II MMX 300MHz... Maybe!
1/10/98
- Finally worked out the glitches with the
*%@^#%& hard drive... I think. I hope! The system seems to be working
fine. You may not have heard me, but I was knocking on the table. Not much
new going on at present. The collection I looked at Thursday turned out
to be pretty nice, but I didn't get to bring them home. :( He is going
to think about it, so he may call me back.
1/8/98
- Finishing up the posting of the redlines
from Sunday. Still limping along on the backup system due to lack of time
to work on the problem. I have another collection to look at tonight, so
stay tuned.
1/5/98
- I am posting some really nice redlines that
I bought on Sunday. I still don't have my computer running yet. At least
the backup is still going!
1/3/98
- I am trying to swap parts with a different
computer and have been running into glitches with copying the data from
one computer to the other. Of course, it didn't help when I overwrote one
of the sys.ini files... I will probably have to start all over. No new
cars posted in awhile. Sorry! I am busy with other things for the moment.
1/1/98
- I want to wish everyone a very Happy New
Year.
12/27/97
- I hope everyone received all the toys that
they deserved (or at least wanted). I have been adding the missing redline
pics... I will get all the email caught up soon!
12/23/97
- I won't have much time to update the pages
until the 26th. To you and your families - have a very Merry Christmas.
Now if it could only snow... just a little.
12/22/97
- Started some ebay auctions for some items
that wouldn't fit in any categories.
12/21/97
- Added some Johnny Lightning limiteds. Added
the pics to the redline blister packs.
12/20/97
- I actually was doing some things this last
week, but they weren't really apparent to the page. Yesterday and today
I added quite a few new loose redlines to the page. I also added some beautiful
new old store stock redline blisters. Most are unpunched and are in very
nice shape. The only damage to a lot of them is from sitting in the case
where the bottom edge of the card hit the button bubble of the card under
it. The pics are to follow soon! Also, added almost every color of the
Vintage 2 cars.
12/13/97
- Added Real Riders and pics. Finished posting
the white and chrome redlines.
12/11/97
- Added more pics to my original redlines
page.
12/9/97
- Still working on posting pics and more redline
cars. I have chrome and white to finish and then I will be done for awhile.
I am behind on email again and will get caught up very soon!
12/7/97
- Added a few more loose redlines and worked
on my original page (my brother was threatening to take me to court if
I didn't disclose his part ownership. :)
12/6/97
- Added loose redlines and basic wheel cars.
Still need to add pics...
12/5/97
- Added some loose basic wheel cars. Will
catch up on ALL email 12/6!
12/4/97
- Added some more new redlines and pics.
12/3/97
- Added some new redlines and pics.
12/1/97
- Finished adding pics to all the gold and
brown redlines. Added a bunch of cars to the miscellaneous die-cast for
sale pages. I just made up the prices, so feel free to offer what you think
they are worth. I hope to add a bunch of basic wheel cars later today and
tomorrow. I am still looking for old cap guns!
