The year has gone by much quicker than I ever expected. There have been
quite a few things that have kept me from adding items to the site. Early
in the year, I became addicted to fantasy baseball and was almost talked
into doing the same with football, but I knew better! I had a great vacation
in Vegas over the July 4th holiday, although, I didn't bring home any extra
cash, which was my main objective. I even went to see the Grand Canyon,
which was definitely worth the time away from the blackjack tables.
Something happened on 8/28 that put the site on hold pretty much until now. My friend, Stacey, was in an auto accident that left her with multiple broken bones and wearing a halo. She was in the hospital for a month, although it seemed much longer. Her recovery is coming along well and the halo has been removed, but she still has to wear a collar and may be facing another surgery. I did watch most of the OSU football games this season and had mixed feelings about the team. The team has a good defense, but Bellisari wasn't consistent at quarterback. We definitely have to work on holding a lead. We lost at least 2 games where we had big leads at half time and then we couldn't score any more points. I thought it was going to happen again at Michigan, but we held on... That was a pleasant surprise! I have seen only one basketball game and it was a warm-up non-league game. The team is unbeaten, but I doubt it will stay that way very long. I did add some cars to the site, but now my camera is having problems. I will be working on that. Have a great Holiday Season!!! 1/14/01 - I have had some major problems with my computer. I set up a network in my home and a virus infected both systems via the shared file structure. My friend, Stacey, was responsible for that fiasco, but there was no loss of life and I have forgiven her. The newer system didn't have any important files on it anyway, so nothing was lost there. However, due to my laziness and a problem with my cd-writer, my last backup on my main system was on 3/1/00. That means that I lost my email file from 3/1/00 and 1/5/01. There was some important info and some unanswered email that I lost. If I didn't answer your email, please resend. The Buckeyes football season came and went without much excitement on my part. I feel that coach Cooper deserved to be fired, but not for the reasons some may expect. The lack of sportsmanship and taunting by the players embarrassed me. This had been going on for too long and is the responsibility of the coach. Both Cooper (the player) and Doss should have been tossed from the Outback Bowl game by the officials. When that didn't happen, coach should have set them down. Hopefully, the new coach will have the nerve to step in and do what is right, when the players don't. The basketball team is decent, but doesn't appear to be headed for the "big dance" this year. I watched the Minnesota game over the weekend and almost had a heart attack at the end. We were up by 23 at one point and almost blew it. All we can hope for is continued improvement! Work slacked off for me after the first half of last year, as the company I work for ran into some problems. My hours were cut back dramatically. What did I do with all my free time?? I know that I didn't spend it adding new cars to the site... Her name is mentioned above. Yeah, the one who wrecked my network... 8/9/00 - Due to popular demand for some form of credit card payment system, I now am set up for PayPal. It is a very easy way to do a transaction and there is no waiting for a payment to arrive. Besides, it is free to use! They even pay you $5 to register!! Check it out here: 7/16/00 - I had a fantastic vacation in New Hampshire visiting my relatives there. I went hiking on Mt. Washington, which has an elevation of 6,288 feet. It was in the clouds and visibility was poor, but the rocky trails were unusual and demanding. I even went to the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut and brought home quite a bit more than I took (The Black Jack tables were very good to me!!). The highlight of the trip was mowing my brother's yard with a Gravely walk-behind with a 6 foot 3-gang reel mower in front while he was using a riding mower... Thanks, Jerry! :) I also witnessed a great 4th of July fireworks display at the Mt. Washington resort (never seen one better). All of the email isn't caught up yet, but I am working on it! 6/28/00 - Wow, 4 months have gone by... Time flies when you average 60+ hours per week at work. I will be on vacation until 7/9 and won't be answering email until I get back. I hope everyone has a great 4th of July! 2/24/00 - Well, a lot has happened since I last updated this page. The main thing that happened that affects the site is that I now have RoadRunner service. After some initial delays and problems which were due to the inexperience of the area technical staff, I am very pleased with the speed! On average, the cable modem connects at 1,200 kilobits per second which is close to 25 times faster than the best 56k connection. I can't complain too much though since I was one of the first in NW Ohio to get it and Time Warner hooked it up for free, including the Ethernet card. Some might say it was a small price to pay for being a "guinea pig". The only reason I bring this up is that I have changed my email address to: jkarcher@redlines.com My old email address will be working until April 1, 2000. Please change your address books. The Buckeyes have done fairly well, with setbacks here and there, so far 18-5 and over ranked at number 6. Of course that is my opinion and I may be wrong. :) They are so frustrating to watch as I never know which "team" will show up to play. They are a pretty site when the defensive intensity goes up. This team plays so close to the opponents ability that every game is up for grabs. I can't wait for the madness to begin, though!! There are quite a few new computer users where I work and they are keeping me busy just asking questions. It is a wonder that I get any work done there at all!! Some even make me come over to their homes and work on their computers for free. I really don't mind helping. Really! No news on when new cars will be added... Sorry about that! 1/6/00 - The new Tomart's Price Guide is in stock and available for $32 shipped by priority insured mail. 1/2/00 - I started the new year by adding some cars to the pages... 12/19/99 - I added a link to the Mongoose and Snake Drag Set page that was on the site for a long time. I sold this set a long time ago, but didn't wanted to leave the page as a reference. The link can be found here, if you want to check it out. I wish everyone a Happy Holiday season! 12/5/99 - I finally updated the links page... I know it isn't the page you wanted, but it needed done. There were quite a few dead links. 11/18/99 - When are the updates coming?? What have I been up to? Well, in the 4 months that I have neglected the "What's New?" page, I have been a little lazy. (Ok, maybe a lot...) I did buy a real Hot Wheel though and am having fun playing with it. I bought a nice '70 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SX, which is the 442 version of the Supreme body style. I will be adding some additional performance goodies to the 455 later this winter. I also picked up a few collections of Hot Wheels (redlines, of course) over the last several months. I really do intend to add them to the site. The Buckeyes have depressed me... both the football and basketball teams. I knew that the football team was not going to be great, after losing quite a bit of talent from last year's team. However, I didn't think that we would be 6-5 when we made the dreaded trip up north this weekend! If there is any way to be positive about our situation, it would have to be that we have nothing to lose and in order to go to a bowl game the Wolverines have to go down. I hope that we do well and pull out a win, but I am not placing any wagers... The basketball team seemed to mail in their game against Notre Dame in the preseason NIT. I think the guys were snowed by all of the ranking hype. Maybe, the loss early was a big plus. They sure didn't work like they did last year! Anyway, I hope to do a better job on getting email answered promptly and getting some cars added soon. BTW, I did get a CD-writer and I ended up needing it already. I did a HD backup on 11/2 and on 11/13, my power went off and ruined my file allocation table. I was able to restore my data, BUT I lost all the email from between those 2 dates. Most of it was answered, but those that weren't need to resend it. Sorry!! 7/18/99 - The additions were delayed... until today. Also, I have removed all on hold items that I couldn't identify who had them on hold. If I made a mistake, sorry! By the way, the site's third anniversary passed and even I forgot, mainly because of the hard drive crash. Thanks to those who reminded me! 7/11/99 - I finally have my system working again and have updated My Original Redlines and the Hot Wheels Factory pages. All of my old files and email messages were lost. The moral of the story is that a hard drive can fail anytime, anywhere, to anyone. My drive was less than a year old and I had planned on getting my cd recorder working soon... I had problems getting my SCSI card working when I set up this computer last year, so I took it out. I will be ordering an IDE CD recorder very soon. I promise! The good news is that I have some new cars ready to add, but will wait until tomorrow. See ya then! 7/3/99 - Wow! It has been way too long, but it couldn't be avoided. My old home was put on the market on Tuesday and it is already under contract. What a relief! So, I am finally able to work on the site and get some more cars added. Right? WRONG! My hard drive crashed Thursday night and have lost all my email, jpgs and html files. I am currently working on my parent's computer while they are away on vacation. That means that I won't be able to answer the 7 or so messages that I had not responded to yet. Please resend them! There is a possibility that I will get them back, but I am not going to hold my breath. Have a great 4th of July! 4/22/99 - Unfortunately, I have some projects going on that will prevent me from adding any new items for awhile. I have been updating the site daily as usual and will keep up with the email. 3/28/99 - I added the green redlines as promised... 3/27/99 - I have not said anything about the Buckeyes run at the NCAA tourney because I didn't want to jinx them. I don't really believe that anything I said made any difference in their play, but... :) Anyway, their run ended today, so I can speak. Getting to the final four was a huge accomplishment for the team. They should be very proud. Anyway, look tomorrow for a bunch of green redlines to be added! 3/9/99 - I added some new redlines today, not many, but it is better than none... 3/8/99 - The Buckeyes played well in the Big Ten tourney, even though Illinois beat them. Seven teams from the Big Ten are going the the NCAA Tourney??? I hope the conference lives up to the hype. OK - enough basketball... I added some new redlines today!!! 3/2/99 - I have been busy at work and on the site. The email is caught up and I am trying to keep it that way. 2/21/99 - The trickle of new cars hasn't turned into a flood yet, but the water is still flowing... In other words, I added some more spectraflame redlines. I have watched several of the Buckeyes basketball games in the last few weeks. I am impressed by their record, but the play is scary. The games have been very sloppy and I can't tell if it is ineptitude by the other team or the Buckeyes are playing fantastic D... Either the Big Ten conference is awesome, or has done a great snow job on the media. Only the tourney will tell for sure! 2/14/99 - I actually added some new cars (all purple spectraflame redlines). I know it isn't much, but at least it is a start. Maybe it is a sign of things to come... :) 2/7/99 - I hope that you didn't think that I died. A lot has been going on, but I have had no time to add new redlines. I am behind on email and am working to remedy that. The good news is that I may be going back to a 40 hour work week very soon! If that happens I will have much more time for the site. I have 2 more collections of redlines to add, so please stay tuned. During the holidays, my son Brandon visited me and while we did move some stuff, we goofed off most of the beginning his visit. Then a snow/ice storm with very cold weather attacked and it set me back a couple weeks. After the ice melted, I did manage to load up my truck and get it to my new home, but it was a nightmare. The fuel filter plugged up and limited me to 20 mph. I still have to fix that and pack up the rest of my belongings so I can ready my other house for market. I haven't even spent time on ebay...
