- Added a new section on Skyshow Fleetsides
and how to tell if it is just a broken Custom Fleetside. It is listed under
Cool Hot Wheel Stuff. I also added a page for selling miscellaneous die-cast
that I have no idea what it is (not quite finished yet). I redid the button
bar and I hope it all works! Are all the Thanksgiving leftovers gone yet?
11/28/97 - Took a couple days off. Will be doing the brown and gold redlines next. I hope that you didn't have to go shopping today. It is always a madhouse. Stay home and enjoy the quiet is my motto. I hope everyone had plenty of turkey yesterday! 11/26/97 - Finished the blue redline pics. 11/23/97 - Went into a deep depression following the Wolverines trouncing of OSU on Saturday. It was a sad day indeed. At least they had plenty of chances to take control of the game and they didn't roll over when they were down 20-0. Several people have asked for the Whitney bug item number. The item number is 13-8930-N and their phone number is (312) 431-6102. I finished adding pics for all the aqua redlines and should get all the blue ones done by tomorrow. 11/22/97 - In the morning, before the OSU-Michigan game, I set up a huge track layout that covered the entire upstairs of my house. My nephews Seth (3) and Zachary (6) came over and helped. We had 4 superchargers going and lots of curves. For cars we used about 20 Revealers dupes. I even set up my Zopters for a short time. The nice thing about it is that I don't use the upstairs for anything, so we didn't have to pick up the mess. They seem to get the biggest kick out of not having to put the track away when we were done. Next step - rig up adapters so I don't spend a fortune on batteries! 11/19/97 - Added some more pics to the redlines for sale pages. Changed a bunch of other minor things. 11/17/97 - Added some new pics of the cars I have for sale, including some shots of the new JC Whitney VW Bug. I put a price on mine, but order it from them and save a couple dollars. I have been spending a lot of time messing with toy guns and may start an off shoot page for cap guns. I also helped out a friend who was low on funds and will be selling his Starting line-ups. He has close to 200 of them in boxes, or so it seems. I doubt if there are any rare ones and will be priced cheap. Let me know ahead of time and I will email you when I post them. 11/14/97 - Added cars to the damaged prenumbered blister page. I keep running into the same problem when I try to use an image with imbedded links in it. Netscape wants to put a border around my image map that is the same color as the text links in the page. At the bottom of this page (way down there) you will see an example of what I want to expand on. The only reason that it does not have a border around it is that I have set all link colors for this page to black. I did that on the front page also. At this point I have 3 choices, leave the pages the way they are, make a green button bar, or have no text links in any of the pages. I will keep working on that until I get it working. I don't understand why netscape sees the whole image as a link when there are only sections of the image being linked. Even Communicator does the same thing. 11/11/97 - Updated the prenumbered blister page and worked on changing the style of the pages so that it will be easier to navigate from section to section. That way you won't have to go back to the main page if you are looking at Johnny Lightnings and want to view the spectraflame redlines. I also have an uncle that is looking for old cap guns. If anyone has any metal Western style guns (grips can be plastic) from the '50's and '60's, I can probably work out a trade for Hot Wheels. I need to find him something so he doesn't come over and make me search the web for the darn things again. Hopefully, he will get his own computer, SOON!!! 11/9/97 - Added some redline pics and other images. Yesterday, I raked leaves all afternoon while listening to the Buckeyes game. I can't believe it wasn't on the television. What is wrong with them Gophers anyway? At least it gave me a reason to get something done. Now I have lots of packing material (18 - 55 gallon bags full) for the cars I send out... :) I added items to the Junkyard auction, also! 11/6/97 - Finally finished the numbered section. I will be taking some pics of some cars to post and a new set that I bought this week. Well, it wasn't new, but the box looks like it is. It is a 1970 Rodrunner Speedway set. It is only missing the speed control knob. I didn't notice that until I got it out at home... If anyone has a spare, please let me know. Ok, maybe that is a long shot. 11/4/97 - Added some redlines. Almost have all the pages updated. 11/3/97 - Worked on the numbered pack update. Finished up to # 200. The others from 201 to 274 are piled all over my living room. I needed to do it though, as I was having major problems finding cars that people wanted. Now they are in order!!! The junkyard sealed bid sale ended and I hope that everyone was satisfied with the way I handled it. I was not disappointed with what the cars sold for, but I was disappointed in the number of people that participated. For as many people that were begging me for my junkers... I will try it again very soon. 11/2/97 - Updated pages and added cars in numerous places. 10/31/97 - I have been busy with updating pages. I did add some cars here and there, but mainly tried to straighten things up. I also added a section about Zopters a couple days ago. I bought a small collection of redlines yesterday, but none were exceptional and the commons were the only ones in good shape. Of course, the '73 Shell promo light blue Ferrari 512S was the only one that was painted. It looks dandy painted red and black... 10/27/97 - I found the Custom Car Designer Set today at KB Toy Works. See pics. I opened this one up too... The bus looks great with nothing on it. It may be time to try customizing again. 10/25/97 - I opened up the junkyard. This is something new and I don't know what to expect, but I hope people have fun with it. I have been a little overwhelmed with the email lately and am behind again. I will get caught up! So many people have asked about the '67 GTO's that are out (I haven't seen one)... The '67 Muscle Car set can be found for $30 at Spiegel's catalog online (thanks for that bit of info Steve). Also, I finally found the 10 pack at TRU and picked up a set of Petty cards for free. See pics. They are pretty nice for freebies. Oh no, I opened mine!!!! 10/20/97 - I have been playing around with the logo and will have a new button bar soon. I will be posting some new cars tomorrow. 10/17/97 - I am caught up with all my email backlog. If I didn't respond to yours, try again. My ISP has been messing up here the last couple days. There was several hours where I could log on, but not access anything. I could ftp my website, but not anything else. Anyway, I started my Junkyard site, but don't have any cars listed yet. Don't expect too much. I will be keeping the best cars for my own use later on. I customized a few cars in 1995 and gave them away at the Indy convention to the AOL people that I knew. They weren't anything wild, but I had fun doing them. 10/15/97 - I updated my want list and answered some more of my stack of email. I received my first call from my ad! The guy had ONE Hot Wheel from 1961 and it was a Jeep with a broken windshield. I hope this wasn't an omen! At first I thought it was someone pulling my leg, but the guy was serious. I had him read the bottom to me and he said Matchbox and the 1961 turned into 1987. Oh, well. There is always tomorrow! 10/14/97 - I made it back and had a great time out in Vegas. This was my sixth trip out there and there is always something new. One of the neatest non-gambling things was the Coke Museum near the MGM. On the third floor there is a setup where you can drink all the Coke products from around the world FOR FREE. The flavors were amazing. They even had pear and passion fruit flavors. They might be charging people later on, but every time we went by, we stopped in for a taste. If it weren't for the craps tables I would have come out ahead... Those damn dice! I previously mentioned the quarter craps tables at the Four Queens. They are a thing of the past. The Union Plaza has them still, but they were too crowded to play on when I was there. Anyway, I came back to 188 emails and I have about 30 left to go. I hope no one is upset about the delay. It seems that no one noticed the sign on my main page that says I was on vacation. :) Even my ex-wife was badgering me about not returning her email. I will be busy updating the pages this week, but by the weekend I will be adding new stuff again. I have an ad in the local paper starting tomorrow about wanting to buy collections. Maybe I will have some new redlines to sell real soon. I have already passed over two collections since I have been in Ohio. Neither one had any cars that I wanted for myself. I would have been buying them just to resell. Besides they also included enough newer stuff to choke a horse... 10/3/97 - I will return 10/13. The dice are calling me... Bye!!! 10/1/97 - Added some loose black walls, real riders and some pics to the loose redlines page. 9/29/97 - Added cars all over. I need to inform you that I will be going on vacation starting 10/3 until 10/12. I will, of course, honor any pending deals. If your payment arrives after I leave, your shipment will be delayed until I return. Unfortunately, I am not going to the convention in Atlanta. I made these plans before I moved to Ohio and thought that driving to Atlanta would be a pain. Now I could jump on I-75 and be there in a few hours. :) So, I am going to Vegas instead. Watch for me at the Downtown High Roller craps tables at the 4 Queens and the Plaza. (They both have quarter craps tables for those of you who didn't know or at least they used to.) I am actually going to go sight seeing on this trip! I promise. Also, added 2 new sections, The Crumbler and a page paying homage to a restoration artist. 9/28/97 - Added some loose redlines and Toppers. I met a guy at TRU in Lima at 8:30pm last night that had just helped the stocker put up three cases and there was one Scooter in each case. At least he was nice enough to let me LOOK at one! Some people wouldn't have let me do that. Picked up #1 and 2 White Ice, Dealer's choice and a few others. That is the first "new" stuff I had seen in about 4 months. Probably because I don't look often enough... If I would have been there 15 minutes earlier, I would have had the thrill of opening a fresh box. At least I took home a Hot Wheel box for storage. 9/27/97 - Added some new songs to the music room. Added more Topper Lightnings w/pics (even a blister Jet Powered car). Will be adding some loose redlines later on. 9/26/97 - Added some prenumbered blisters w/pics in a special area (I am having a sale). I now have a room just for my computer/studio equipment. The only thing I need to get to make it better is some stands for the floodlights. I should note that this will NOT work when summer comes around. The heat feels good right now. There is a pic of the whole works on my studio page or jump to it here. I thought I better take the pic now, before the desk gets too cluttered!!!! 9/24/97 - Started some eBay auctions. Check the link on the main page to check them out. Added some original Topper Johnny Lightnings with pics. 9/23/97 - Added the bypass of the button bar for a couple of guys that could not get it to work for them. I don't know if it was a browser conflict or the fact that I used Frontpage 97 to make the pic and link setup. Updated a lot of pages, but added nothing new. 9/22/97 - Added a bunch of loose yellow and purple redlines and have pics available for all of them. Painted again yesterday, and today. Why do paint companies brag about "one-coat coverage"? It never looks good enough for me and I always have to put on two coats. I guess I should count on that and quit complaining! 9/20/97 - I am painting the inside of the new house and taking pics when I take a break (I couldn't resist setting up a temporary "studio"). I still did not find my camera charger, BUT Radio Shack came to the rescue. The camera works fine even though the charger is 0.5 volts low in output. At least the promised pics are finally in the works. My permanent "studio" will be finished tomorrow and then things will take off. I still say that moving is about the worst experience in life (second only to divorce maybe). :) All the pics have been moved to the new server and are linked up! 9/17/97 - Added more loose redlines and linked up more of the pics. I will be moving tomorrow and am looking forward to getting my truck unloaded so I can find my darn camera charger. 9/15/97 - Okay I didn't get all the pics linked yet, but I am working on it. Added some more loose redlines. 9/14/97 - Added some loose redlines and moved everything to redlines.com and relinked all the pics. 9/13/97 - Updated link info and moved a major portion of the page to redlines.com. 9/12/97 - Installed the pages on the new server. Now I have to move all the pics and links to them... 9/11/97- Started using the redlines.com link. The main part of the page is still on my old server, but I have until the 24th to get it all moved. I will be working on that for awhile... There is over 15mb of stuff there and I have a LOT of links to change. Please feel free to point any out that are not working. I need all the help I can get. Added a page for Vintage and Vintage II cars. 9/9/97- Added nothing new, but worked on the site transition. 9/7/97- Added some loose redlines. 9/6/97- Added a page for 25th Anniversary cars and posted some loose blackwalls from 1979. 9/5/97- My pages will be on my domain (yes, my own domain!) called redlines.com as soon as InterNIC gets the domain registered! I know that I have a lot of other cars besides redlines, but they are what I like best. I also have purchased a home and will be moving again on the 18th if all works as planned. At least this one isn't 850 miles away! Seven miles I can handle, especially since I didn't unload but a quarter of the truck. :) I will be adding a bunch of stuff tomorrow. I also changed my email AGAIN! It is now: jkarcher@wcoil.com I promise that this will be the last time. Bright.net was slow and it was a nightmare getting connected sometimes. Wcoil actually is cheaper AND has connection speeds of up to 56 kbaud. New modem here I come... The fastest that I have ever been able to connect was 31.2k! 9/4/97- Added another 20 or so loose redlines. I will be answering the stack of email real soon. I am probably going to get my domain name as jeffscars.com or redlines.com. Jeffscars is more acurate, but redlines is cooler! I still can't locate the charger for my camera and the *%#@!@ battery is completely dead... I can't even get the pictures out of the dang thing when it is dead. When I get this domain set up, I will have unlimited storage space. I am looking at 2 more houses today. 9/3/97- I added some loose blackwalls from '77, some spectraflame redlines, some misc. Johnny Lightning cars and made a new section on '95 Series cars from a collection that I bought several months ago. Also, I will be marking new additions on the loose car pages so it is easy to see what has changed. Nothing definite on a house yet... 9/2/97- I partially unloaded the truck today and could not find the charger to my camera. Therefore, pictures will not be with any of the new listings that I have added. I still have to say that moving is no fun and my advice is DON'T DO IT! Still looking at houses... 9/1/97- I made a couple of offers on houses today and nothing promising happened so I will be unloading some stuff and updating my redlines and loose blackwalls today and tomorrow. I will probably change email again because I have had a hard time connecting with this service. Updated a bunch of pages to the new "style", but added no new cars. Thanks to mister2@2-cool.com for the help on the border problem! 8/29/97- I have been very busy looking for a house to move all my stuff into. I was going to unload everything at my temporary home, but it would be very inconvenient and then I would have to load it all again. I am making an offer tomorrow and hopefully I will be moving in next week! There are many homes for sale in this area and I had to choose from about 20 that fit my criteria (huge, nice, vacant, and cheap). :) Actually, none of the homes I looked at were all four of those. Most were two or three out of the four... I really can't do too much to the pages until I get my truck unloaded (and find all my camera gear). Please be patient. 8/23/97- I arrived safely!!! It was only 850 miles after all and I made it in 16 hours. That was pretty good time considering all the construction delays in KC and St Louis. I know some of you were watching the news waiting for word of the crash site, BUT it didn't happen. :) I did get a new ISP set up - my new email is: jkarcher@bright.net I will be changing things around as I get set up. For those of you that have things ordered, I sent off some packages before I left and I will have to wait until it is nice outside so I can get to the cars for the rest of you (it was rainy here yesterday...at least when I wasn't sleeping). 8/20/97- I am packed and ready to roll in the am. I will be offline until Monday, unless I can get an ISP late Friday afternoon. This 18' moving truck is not going to cruise down the road at 80 mph! So, the 900+ miles is going to crawl by... I only wish that this thing got more than 5 mpg. Wish me luck! 8/18/97- Well, the closing is set and I am going to be moving on Thursday. My new address is: Jeff Karcher, PO Box 40, Cairo, Ohio 45820 I will be offline for a couple days as I will need to get a new ISP setup, unless I want to make a long distance call which I will do for awhile just to get my email. I will be leaving the site where it is for awhile as I can always ftp the pages up. I also have bagged another 10 mb of server space which I will be putting to good use soon. I know that the email is making a huge pile on the floor. I will clean it up very soon. Wish me luck and if you hear of an accident along I-70 where tens of thousands of Hot Wheels were spilled on the highway, it wasn't a TRU truck, it was me! PS - Cairo is pronounced like Care-O... 8/15/97 - Haven't had too much time for the page in the last few days. I am preparing for a major move! I am moving to Ohio as soon as an apartment sale closes. Ohio? Well, that is where I am originally from (even gradiated as an Elektrical Engineere from OSU - Go Bucks!!!). I don't have a permanent address there yet, but will post one as soon as I know what it will be. Moving is such a hassle! My advice to everyone - stay where you are, don't move unless you are evicted! :) 8/12/97 - Finished the button bar on the main page. It might look like just a black rectangle with words in it that act as links to some. To see what it really looks like you have to make sure that your display is set to 256 colors. I have a friend that is still using a VGA monitor at 16 colors and all the JPGs look like crap. Anyway, the bar is a work of art! If only I could figure out why there is a green border around it, when it isn't there on any of the html coding... If anyone can help me remove it I would be very grateful. 8/10/97 - Changed the format of all the pages and am working on a button bar that will be on all the pages. Added pics to numerous pages including a pic of a Matchbox Challenge car to my wants page. That should eliminate a lot of questions. I added a few selections to the Music page. The pics that I have taken with my new lighting set-up are greatly improved. I will probably reshoot everything eventually. 8/8/97 - Added "Follow-Around Sound" to the page. I have been messing with that for a long time and finally figured out what I was doing wrong. The page should load a lot quicker now. I will be adding a bunch of pics in the next couple of days. I also have improved my "studio" setup and the pic quality should get even better. 8/6/97 - Finished the "studio" page. I hope that all your questions about my pics are now answered. If I left out anything please let me know! I added some pics to my "original cars" page. Please let me know if you have cars that are in better shape than the ones I have... 8/4/97 - Added a new look to the page!!! The main reason for this was to shorten the loading time. I loved the pics on the main page, but if the pic files aren't stored in your browser cache, they can take a long time to load. I also purchased Frontpage 97 and am playing with it. Look for many new looks in the next couple of weeks. Please let me know if I change something for the worse!!!
